Actress Sylvia Sanchez is now part of the newest GMA Teleserye's Langit Sa Piling Mo.  She will play the role of Mely, foster mother of Marj (Heart Evangelista)

Sylvia Sanchez was known in showbiz late 80's in Regal Films and become part of Kapamilya Network (ABS-CBN).  She appeared in Esperanza, Recuerdo de Amor, Bituin, Eva Fonda and Your Song Presents Underage.

Many people asking if Sylvia Sanchez already a certified Kapuso star?  She said that after she gave birth. she was part of the movie Miss You Like Crazy under Star Cinema.  When GMA 7 offer the role, she didn't hesitate to accept the offer.  The most important thing is that she has work.

Sylvia Sanchez is married to businessman Art Atayde and mother to Arjo, Ria and Gela .

Palito died at the age of 76

Veteran comedian actor Reynaldo "Palito" Hipolito died later this morning in Philippine General Hospital. due to severe stomach pain


Palito was born on September 4, 1934.  He was known as a slapstick comedian and actor who was at the height of his career in the nineteen seventies and eighties. He was well-known for his unusually light and thin anatomy, thus earning him the self-deprecating screenname Palito, which is Spanish for stick, understood in Filipino as matchstick or toothpick.

He died at the age of 76.  His body lied at Loyola Chapel in Guadalupe.

Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2010 winner Maria Venus Raj is out.

Venus Raj was dethroned from her crown as Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2010 by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc (BPCI) because of the issue of her citizenship.  Last March 6 she was crowned as one of the most beautiful women in the Philippine and won the crown in Araneta Coliseum
 
According to Jenny Inocencio Marcial, Corporate Affairs and PR Manager of BPCI that there are inconsistent document and statement between Venus and her mother.  
"We found inconsistencies in their statements. Both Venus and her mother said she was born in Doha, Qatar, while yung na-submit nilang legal documents say she was born in the Philippines  We don't want din naman to give her family the pain of being in a situation like this. I'm sure Venus has nothing to do with this and we will find a way to deal with this problem,"

James Eduard Lim, son of Toni Rose Gayda died

This is the last word uttered by James Eduard Lim, younger son of Eat Bulaga tv host Toni Rose Gayda.

James, 26 years old died at exactly 6:30 in the morning in Cardinal Santos Memorial Hospital.  He fell down from 4th Floor of his condo unit in Wack Wack, Mandaluyong City.

There is a rumor spreading that James attempt suicide.

Steven Silva and Sarah Lahbati won as the Male and Female Survivor of Starstruck V

Steven Silva and Sarah Lahbati declared as the new Starstruck V's Ultimate Male and Female Survivor. 

The final judgment was held at Araneta Coliseum.  Placing second to Steven was Enzo Pineda who was named First Prince while Rocco Nacino bag the Second Prince title.

Diva Montelaba became the First Princess.

Steven and Sarah got the highest combined text and online votes from the viewers and scores from the StarStruck Council, composed of Lolit Solis, Iza Calzado, and Floy Quintos.
 
Sarah averaged 94.6 percent while Steven had 93.5 percent. Diva scored 91.4 percent, Enzo got 90.2 percent, while Rocco had an average of 88.3 percent.

Steven and Sarah each won P1.5 million cash prize and an exclusive contract with GMA Network, with a minimum guarantee of P3.5 million.

Enzo, Rocco, and Diva, on the other hand, will each receive P200,000 cash prize and exclusive contracts with the Kapuso Network.

The rest of the Avengers were also given GMA contracts.

Veteran actress Mila Ocampo, mother of Snooky Serna passed away later this morning around 10:30 am due to emphysema.


Milagros Rodriguez Sumayao in real name, she was discovered at the age of 16 by Narcisa B. Vda De Leon or known as "Dona Sisang", owner of LVN Pictures.


Her movies are:  Biyaya ng Lupa (1959), Alyas Palos (1961), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (1971), Under-Age (1980), Zuma (1985), Sinungaling Mong Puso (1992), Paano Kung Wala Ka Na? (1997) at Dugo Sa Pantalan (1965) wherein she was nominated in the category of Best Actress in FAMAS Award.

Remains of Mila Ocampo to be laid at Royal 1 Chapel ng Holy Trinity Memorial Chapels, Dr. A Santos Ave., Parañaque City.

Teacher Efren is in love.

CNN Hero of the Year 2009 Efren Peñaflorida admit in public that he want to court actress Angel Locsin.  According to him, last 2004 was the first time his heart beat and falls for Angel.

Last November 19, 2009 Angel and Efren met unexpectedly.  Efren went to Los Angeles for CNN Awarding Nights for Hero of the Year 2009 while Angel went to L.A. for Emmy Awards Night.  She was nominated as Best Actress for her TV series Lobo.
 
Efren also admit that he visited Angel's father and open up his intentions to the actress.

Efren Peñaflorida won the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year

Efren Peñaflorida, a devoted teacher who started a pushcart classroom in the Philippines in the area of Cavite bring education to all poor children who cannot attend school has been named the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year. 

The event started with an audience of 3,000 at the Kodak Theatre.  He will received $100,000 to continue his advocacy in Dynamic Teen Company.
"Our planet is filled with heroes, young and old, rich and poor, man, woman of different colors, shapes and sizes. We are one great tapestry," "Each person has a hidden hero within, you just have to look inside you and search it in your heart, and be the hero to the next one in need.

Mark Lapid is now finally free!

Yes!  Mark Lapid, son of Senator Lito Lapid is now finally single!  His marriage to Yuri Park, a Korean citizen was annulled later this month.  He filed the case last February 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He said also that Yuri Park is asking for $5,000 financial support every month but refuse to accept the deal because he told the court that he doesn't have enough money to support.  But he told Yuri that he will still support the child no matter what.

Mark Lapid is now planning to marry Tanya Garcia next year.

U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy Dies of Brain Cancer

U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy dies, he was 77. He was the last of the four Kennedy brothers. President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy were both assasinated while Joe Kennedy was a pilot who died during World War Two. Sen. Edward Kennedy had been battling cancer for quite sometime now and it seems he had reached the end of his journey short of seeing the dawn of the health care reform of the Obama Administration. Health care is his pioneering work in the senate.

Both Republicans and Democrats mourn the death of the "easiest and most bipartisan" senator in the chamber. He was praised even by former Presidential candidate John McCain who called Kennedy, "the single most effective member of the Senate if you want to get results."

He assumed the senate seat from his brother john Kennedy in 1962. From being a supposed lightweight senator, he had become the single most effective and visionary senator in more than four decades.

He helped enact measures to protect civil and labor rights, expand healthcare, upgrade schools, increase student aid and contain the spread of nuclear weapons. "There's a lot to do," Kennedy told Reuters in 200

Kennedy also endorsed President Barack Obama for the presidency. His endorsement was seen as one of the turning points of the Obama campaign which eventually led to his victory.

In 1980 he ran for the Democratic party's presidential nomination but lost to then-President Jimmy Carter. After than defeat he devoted himself to his Senate career.

In May 28, 2009 issue of the Boston Globe he aired his reasons in seeking for reform in America's Health Care System, "I've benefited from the best of medicine, but I've also witnessed the frustration and outrage of patients and doctors alike as they face the challenges of a system that shortchanges millions of Americans," he wrote.

Tragedies dogged Kennedy throughout his life. They included a 1964 plane crash that damaged his spine and left him with persistent pain; bone cancer that cost son Teddy a leg; first wife Joan's battles with alcoholism that contributed to their divorce, and drug problems involving nephews, one of whom died of an overdose. His nephew, John Kennedy Jr., died in July 1999 when his small plane crashed into the ocean near Cape Cod.

In May 2008, Edward Kennedy collapsed at his Cape Cod home and was flown to hospital in Boston, where he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Brain cancer kills half its victims within a year.

Kennedy's illness kept him from attending the funeral of his sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a leading advocate of the mentally disabled, who died on August 11 at the age of 88.

Lito Lapid's "wish" failed to achieve

Sorry to hear that our actor turned Senator Lito Lapid failed to meet US President Barack Obama.

Lapid said to the public that his ultimate wish is to meet Obama face to face but sad to say he was not among the chosen people to meet Obama for 45 minutes.

Along with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, only House Speaker Prospero Nograles Jr., Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and Philippine Ambassador to the US Willy Gaa were allowed to meet with Obama.

Lapids would stay in the US until August 15 to attend to several functions with the Filipino community in the West Coast.
