“Lights off, It’s Earth Hour” On March 28, at 8:30 pm once again, the whole nation commemorates the Earth Hour. This environmental campaign, which started in 2007, is a call for all nations to save energy and to protect the Earth from it worsening condition through climate change.
Last year, it had gained so much support here in the Philippines of which almost a million had participated and as seen, 56 MWH of electric power in Luzon and 16 MWH in Metro Manila were saved. This year, Earth Hour is heaping for more support as it aims to reach one billion people in 1,000 cities all over the world.
Encompassing the same vision, the World Creative Youth Forum, an international Youth Forum endorsed by UNSECO, fully supports this environmental campaign. The WCYF focuses on Education for Sustainable Development which includes the promotion on the awareness towards supporting ways to lessen the effects and causes of climate change as well as to promote how important is individual action in sustainable development and how our actions affects others and the world.
WCYF call on its delegates, supporters and friends to fully support the Earth Hour 2009 and to do their contribution to this global action and statement on Climate Change. “We believe that this is a major step towards realizing a sustainable Earth in the years to come," David D’Angelo, WCYF Chairperson stressed.
Earth Hour 2009 is your call to step up and save the Mother Earth, by simply turning off your lights and other electrical appliances you had already helped. All it takes is an hour.
