Nicanor Perlas who currently ranks number 7 in the unofficial count says he is not yet conceding on the current presidential elections.  Perlas says there are more than just quick-fixes and automation.

Here is the rest of his statement...

NICANOR PERLAS- I am not conceding. Election Results Remain Indeterminate and Unfair due to the Partial Failure of the Automated Election System

Contrary to rumors in media, I am NOT conceding the elections to presidential candidate Benigno Aquino III. I will wait for Comelec to officially give its final tally and its explanation as to how it will address the reality that millions of Filipinos were not able to vote due to long lines, PCOS machine failures, and/or mismanagement in a significant number of polling places. Then I will make my final decision.

Independent presidential candidate Nicanor Perlas and the Partido ng Marangal na Sambayanan (PANGMASA) called for a postponement of the national elections by three months during the presidential forum of Listen Mindanao at the Holy Cross University in Davao City.

Perlas who warned the public of the strong possiblity of an 'electronic Garci' two months ago, said, “There is no way of determing the real winners of the automated election within 48 hours as the Comelec announced. The way things are being handled by the Comelec, the automated system will be the black hole of the election. Pushing through with the May 10 elections will just further plunge the country into chaos that is potentially violent.”

Independent presidential aspirant Nicanor Perlas, president of Partido ng Marangal na Sambayanan (PANGMASA) inagurated today in the province of Iloilo a joint project with Lifebank (Rural Bank of Maasin),Iloilio Inc. . P3-RLAS, the acronym stands for Patubig, Patubo and Patubas Rural Livelihood Assistance Scheme, is a proactive response aimed at assisting farmers grappling with the effects of the El Niño weather phenomenon. This is a brain child of Nicanor Perlas, the only Green presidential candidate, jointly with the Iloilo- based microfinance enterprise Lifebank, headed by its President, Dr. Vicente Perlas.

Patubig, Patubo and Patubas in Hiligaynon is roughly translated as Irrigate, Grow and Harvest. P3-RLAS is a loan product of Lifebank offered to farmers for the construction of artesian wells, and for the purchase of water pumps and other farm implements so they can irrigate their land during the drought season.

If there is one thing evident during all the presidential forums, debates and during the campaign period, it was very clear that only Nicanor Perlas was respected by his fellow presidential candidates.

Not a single slur nor bad comment had been thrown at the first ever environmentalist and green candidate in the Philippines. He was even applauded and revered by them.

Renowned and multi-awarded Filipino folk-rock artist, Joey Ayala and Tapati Tarongoy, both speaking in behalf of Bagong Lumad, recently announced their support for the presidential bid of Nicanor Perlas. Shortly thereafter, highly respected musician Cynthia Alexander independently sent in her support for Perlas. Ayala gifted Perlas and his party, the Partido ng Marangal na Sambayanan (PANGMASA) free use of all his 100+ songs for Perlas’s campaign to advance new politics and a visionary Philippines. Ayala also said that he would help compose the campaign song and participate in some of the campaign events of Perlas.

"Si Nick lamang ang nakakaintindi ng tunay na pakikipagugnay sa kalikasan at tunay na pagbabago (Nick is the only one who understands true partnership with Nature and genuine change)”, answered Joey Ayala when asked why he decided to support Perlas. “Furthermore, Perlas is the only one who has an integral framework for advancing profound sustainable development”, added Ayala. Nicanor Perlas is perhaps one of the best qualified and principled candidates in the upcoming 2010 Philippine elections but he was disqualified by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). The commission sighted in its en banc decision that Perlas cannot run a nationwide campaign, has no party and funds to really be considered.

On Monday. December 21, 2009 9:00am Nicanor Perlas will file his appeal at the COMELEC Office at Palacio del Gobernador, Intarmuros, Manila together with supporters and friends. There is also an ONLINE PETITION SUPPORTING NICANOR PERLAS.

In the midst of the disaster of Ondoy, I thought if I really need to post the fund raising dinner for Nick Perlas.  Then, I realized that helping resolve what happened during Ondoy and in disasters to come does not only mean giving relief goods and donations but more importantly finding a way to prevent this things from happening in the future or at least be ready for it.

As the only candidate with worldwide recognition by various sectors including the United Nations on issues on integral sustainable development, climate change, peace and microfinance it is fitting to invite everyone to join Nicanor “Nick” Perlas for this dinner.  Get to know him… share your visions and thoughts… know why people are opting for Nicky.
